About LoanCalcFast

A free loan calculator in plain words, built to show what borrowing really costs before you sign.

Why this site exists

Most loan calculators bury the number you came for. They ask for an email, push you to a lender, or show you a monthly payment and stop there. The monthly payment is only half the story. What matters just as much is the total interest, and whether a longer term is quietly costing you thousands. This site puts both in front of you in one screen, with no account and no sales call.

What we publish

One calculator, done properly: the monthly payment, the total interest, the total paid, the payoff date and the full amortization schedule for any fixed-rate loan. Alongside it, an explanation in ordinary words with links to the body that sets the rule, so you can check us rather than trust us. For home loans, where taxes, insurance and PMI change the answer, we point you to our mortgage calculator instead.

Independence and funding

We are not a lender, a broker or a comparison site, and we do not send you to any particular one. There are no ads today. If we add them, they will be marked as ads, and nobody will be able to pay us to change a number or a conclusion.

Who runs this

My name is Marvin Smit, and I publish this site. It is a small independent site, not a newsroom with a team of reviewers, and I would rather say so than pretend otherwise. If a number here is wrong, it is mine to fix.

How the numbers are checked

The math lives apart from the pages, in one file, and is covered by automated tests that run on every change. Those tests check the published formula against known figures, that every dollar borrowed is repaid exactly once across the schedule, that the balance never rises, and that the worked example on the home page still matches what the code produces. If the code and the article ever disagree, the tests fail.

Privacy by design

The calculation runs in your browser. There is no account, and your amount, rate and term are never sent to us. The privacy notice has the detail, and the terms cover the rest.
